SUSTAINBLE PROCUREMENT DIALOGUE
The A-SDA is proud to take an active role in the City of Tshwane Sustainability Week.
Join us on the 6th of June for the Sustainbable Procurement Dialogue.
This is your opportunity to participate in an interactive session with technical experts and thought leaders in the field of sustainable or green procurement. The dialogue will allow stakeholders to share best practices of mainstreaming and implementing sustainable procurement in key operations, specifically in the value chain context (matching sustainable supply and green economy demand) for both the public and the private sector. The SME Green Pitch and Capacity Building Programme will also be introduced by the A-SDA. It is meant for selected high-performing SMEs in Tshwane to enhance their competitiveness and ultimately value chain performance.

5 June: Eco-Logic Awards
Eco-Logic Awards 2018
The Eco-Logic Awards identify individuals, organisations and communities that positively contribute towards a sustainable world – and encourage consumers to purchase their products and services. The Enviropaedia established the Annual Eco-Logic Awards in 2011. These have since grown into South Africa’s most Glamorously Green eco-calendar event, receiving extensive TV, radio, print media and online coverage.
The A-SDA will be donning our eco-hero costumes and represent sustainable business development.
14 June: Policy Dialogue: Supply chain sustainability management and reporting
GRI with support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and in collaboration with local partner organizations is implementing the Competitive Business Program whose main objective is to contribute to better integration of SMEs/suppliers along value chains through sustainability management and reporting.
As part of the Program, GRI with the support of the Member Countries of the Group of Friends of Paragraph 47 and UN Environment launched a publication on policy frameworks and incentives that are shaping and driving sustainability reporting by SMEs, focusing on the policy elements that enable a conducive environment for SMEs to account and disclose their sustainability impacts.
The A-SDA has been invited as implementation partner of the A-SDA participate at the policy roundtable dialogue taking place on Thursday 14 June 2018. The findings and recommendations of the publication on “Empowering Small Business: Recommendations for policy makers to enable sustainability corporate reporting for SMEs” published by GRI will form the basis of the dialogue.

26 June: SME Competitive Business Program Introduction Session
SME Competitive Business Program in partnership with the Global Reporting Initiative
After a hugely succesful launch event on the 31st of May, this program will kick-off with an information session on the 26th of June.
We call on SME’s wanting to step-change, get market access and differentiate their brands. We also call on corporates who really want to see their ESD spend grow value chains and businesses to participate.

The 5th annual African Sustainability Summit is scheduled to take place in November this year.
It will be a celebration of the sucess stories of SME’s, organisations and individuals that are OPEN to Collaboration, Sustainable Development and Net Positive Impact.
